However, I maintain, that > the common view of magic is still bad. I would disagree. In terms of the popular view, Ussuras really groove on Matuska's protection of them. She keeps them alive in a barren wasteland. And Avalon's magic is expressly that of popular legend. Also, the adepts of Laerdom are playing with the fundamental forces of creation. You can't do that lightly. Strictly in terms of a different Ick Factor, which rather than based on "darkness" (which I'm reading here as "a priori evil") is based on "entropy/chaos" (which you can read as screwing with the established order): 1. Sorte - You're playing with the forces of destiny, the Master Plan, the underlying order, challenging that which is predestined, Fate itself. 2. Porte - You're changing the features of the universe by ripping holes in it. 3. Laerdom - You're warping reality using the tools it was built with. 4. Pyeryem - Matuska is allowing you to bend reality.... under her watchful eye. 5. Glamour - You are buying into establish patterns (legend) and sharing their power. Just another way of looking at it. === Chad Underkoffler [chadu@yahoo.com] http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Cavern/5751/index.html "Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever." -- Baron Karl Friedrich Hieronymous von Munchausen __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
